News: Sex, Lives and Videotape comes 2nd in N v S final

It was so close, and yet so far.

“Sex, Lives and Videotape” came a very respectable second in the Grand Final of the North vs. South competition.

Congratulations go to the Tynemouth Video Group (representing the North) with their winning entry, “Grant Aid”. Once again, “Sex, Lives and Videotape” won the audience vote – receiving more than double the votes of any other film. However, the judges always have the final say, and the Derby Movie Makers are grateful to them for their time and comments.

The film follows the fortunes of fictional movie making club, LCA Movie Makers – a hapless bunch of amateur video buffs who have their own, unique take on filmmaking.Sex, Lives and Videotape screengrab

It was a good day for Midlands clubs. Films from Nuneaton Moviemakers and Wave at Long Eaton were also shown during the final. Tynemouth’s victory represents a third consecutive win for the North – something that the South will want to address next year, when the theme of the competition will be, ‘Be Prepared’.

Derby Movie Makers wish to thank everyone at Orpington Video and Film Makers for hosting both the Southern Heat and the Grand Final.
