News: Get ready for the new season

8th September 2008

Derby Movie Makers’ new season is less than a fortnight away. Committee members have been beavering away throughout the summer break to put together what they hope will be an interesting and varied programme for its members and visitors. There is a continued emphasis on competitions to keep our members on their toes, and as well as the clubs own in-house competitions, there are a number of regional and national festivals for filmmakers to take aim at.

The club plays host to a regional competition on 4th December with this year’s Tony Rose and Camera Thorpe competitions. Derby Movie Makers scooped both trophies last year, and will be reluctant to return them.

Later on in the season Derbyshire will be the venue for one of the most prestigious amateur film festivals in the UK calendar - the British International Film Festival (BIAFF), which in 2009 will be held in Chesterfield.

The season kicks off on 18th September 2008 at 7.30pm at the New Bridge Inn, Chellaston Road, Shelton Lock.

Visitors are very welcome.
