News: Situation Vacant is in the can
1st October 2008
Derby Movie Makers have finished filming their production, “Situation Vacant”. The film follows the adventures of Julia Grigson, a job-seeker who, despite her best efforts at interview preparation, finds herself centre stage in a recruitment process wholly different to any we have seen before.
The film was made as an entry to the annual North vs. South Competition, the theme for which this year is “Be Prepared”. Open to all amateur moviemaking clubs, the competition for the John Wright trophy always attracts plenty of interest. The trophy has been won by the North for the last 3 years.
Derby Movie Makers fall within the southern region, and their entry will compete in the southern qualifying heat at Orpington Video and Film Makers on 23rd November 2008.
Situation Vacant will also be a club entry in this year’s Tony Rose competition, which always uses the same theme as the North vs. South competition.
Derby Movie Makers have the honour of hosting the Tony Rose competition this year. It takes place on Thursday 4th December 2008 at the club’s regular meeting venue at the New Bridge Inn in Shelton Lock. The event starts at 7.00pm, entrance is free, and everyone is invited. Please contact us to reserve your place.
