The Tony Rose and Camera Thorpe Music competitions are contested annually between filmmaking clubs from Derby, Nottingham, Long Eaton, Chesterfield, Leicester and Nuneaton. This year, the theme of the competition was ‘Be Prepared’.

The Camera Thorpe Music competition is open to all individual members for music videos based on any subject of their choice, and was this year awarded to John Fox of Chesterfield Film Makers for his video, “Bleak”. Congratulations John.

Filmmaker, writer and DeMontford University lecturer Huw Morgan expertly judged the competitions, and the audience appreciated his advice and expertise.

‘Situation Vacant’ is on a winning streak – it recently qualified for the final of the North vs. South competition, being awarded first place in the southern heat. Fingers are now crossed for the grand final in January – let’s hope they can make it 3 in a row!
